Guinness Tasting Time
Home and history of Ireland’s most iconic beer
It is impossible to visit Dublin without encountering Guinness somewhere along the way- it is almost the lifeblood of the city, with water for the production of Guinness taken from the Liffey River that the Guinness Storehouse sits on.
The Guinness Storehouse has received over 20 million visitors since its opening in 2011 and offers both self-guided and guided tours of its 7 floors – surrounding an atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness. The displays take visitors through the history of Guinness, the ingredients in its production, advertising through the ages and the transportation of Guinness around the world: all of these sections are interactive and imaginatively displayed, making the tour suitable for those aged 12 and upwards.
The highlight of the tour is the culmination on the 7th floor in one of two Gravity Bars: these glass walled bars provide a 360 degree view of Dublin and its surroundings- with the view stretching as far as Wicklow on a sunny day.
Included in the price of an entrance ticket is a creamy pint (or cocktail/ soft drink alternative) in the bar at the Gravity Bar: where visitors can rest assured they’ll have the freshest pint, right from the home of production.
For those looking to really make a memorable trip to the iconic Storehouse, there are a number of add-ons that have received rave reviews from our previous guests, including the certified “pull your own pint” experience, an experimental tap-room, Guinness’ own restaurant and the onsite gift shop.
With such a range of possibilities and given Guinness’ place at the heart of Irish culture, we would highly recommend the tour: even for those who are not so sure about the taste of the black stuff itself!
